T.T Gosho Minami opens in Kyoto on October 28: womenswear, craft and tea
A roughly 150-year-old Kyoto townhouse brings together T.T WOMEN, gardens, art and the 然美 tea space, with an opening exhibition running through November 1.
Kyoto’s Gosho Minami area is gaining a place to look at clothes and space together. T.T Gosho Minami is scheduled to open on October 28, 2026, becoming the brand’s second Kyoto location after T.T Gion. T.T WOMEN is central to its clothing offer, housed in a repurposed machiya approximately 150 years old.
The experience extends from clothing rails to tatami borders, sliding-door paper, glass lighting and gardens. A Kyoto itinerary can consider both garment shapes and the place craft occupies in a room. Shopping, exhibitions and the adjoining tea space offer different perspectives beyond a product list.

Womenswear inside a crafted townhouse
T.T WOMEN sits beside existing timber, light and the proportions of the machiya. Walking around the garments can reveal how cloth falls from different angles before considering familiar layering. The atmosphere of a room and a garment’s actual fit remain separate questions.
Interiors include tatami borders made with HOSOO Nishijin textiles, fusuma using karakami paper from Kyoto’s Kamisoe, and free-blown glass lights by Satoshi Sato. Their positions lead attention from walls and floor towards the ceiling, showing different ways craft enters architecture.

Art, four gardens and a denim room
Works by founder Taiga Takahashi include the sculptures 無限塔 and 時間の天衣 and the two-dimensional 陰翳礼讃. Deeper inside is デニムの間, a small room informed by tea-room forms. Four gardens by Chisao Shigemori add another layer beyond clothing.
Look at the relationship between floor and garden, changing natural light and material junctions rather than only a frontal display photograph. Images introduce the space; accessible areas, ways to spend time and on-site rules remain subject to the venue. Every corner is not automatically a public space for unrestricted use.

Keep the tea space and exhibition dates distinct
The adjoining 然美 御所南 includes Isamu Noguchi’s metal sculpture Circles at its entrance and a single ancient-cedar slab at the centre. Tokoname teapots designed by Koji Takahashi join sweets by Oyatsumaru’s Sayoko Sugiyama, extending artistic and seasonal ideas into tea.
The October 28–November 1 opening exhibition includes an olfactory work by Kan Izumi and Tomoko Sauvage’s sound work In Curved Water. A store opening date is different from an exhibition’s end. Confirm dates, opening hours and tea requirements before arranging the rest of a Kyoto visit.
