What to know | Agro Studio Spring/Summer 2027 Glass Body: glass, corsetry and sportswear
The key details: George Oxby and Angus Cockram discuss material research and collaboration. Muted colors and recurring structures connect historical dress with sportswear.
London brand Agro Studio takes the theme of Glass Body for the spring and summer of 2027, putting more dramatic dresses, historical clothing clues and sportswear into the same series.
In the latest public interview, designers George Oxby and Angus Cockram talked about materials, co-working and stage requirements, giving these seemingly different directions a concrete way to connect.

Glass Body starts with material issues, rather than just making glass shapes
The series of studies starts from paper-like materials, transparency and structure, and then extends to discarded glass, antique glass buttons and embroidery.
The appeal of glass is not only its transparency, but also its duality of being seemingly slender but having weight, allowing people to see through it and changing the image.

After these characteristics are transferred to clothing, they can be observed in terms of layering, reflection and support. The work does not necessarily require a whole sheet of glass to be worn on the body;
material research may also leave clues through the surface, decoration, or the distance between the body and the fabric.
How to maintain a sense of continuity between historical dresses and sportswear in the same season?
The designer uses softer colors and recurring details and structures to connect different references.
References to corsetry, ballet, riding and 1980s sportswear don't each need to be a completely separate outfit, but can change each other within the same look.
When viewing, you can first look for how the same colors are distributed, and then look at the waist, neckline and fabric amount of each piece of clothing.
When the colors are consistent, even if the materials and formality are different, it allows the collection to retain a certain common rhythm, rather than just lining up many inspirations together.
Two people design together, retaining differences and continuing to go back and forth
Public interviews mentioned that the two will first develop the whole season together, and then divide the work to advance.
During the process, they will continue to see what each other is doing.
Cooperation does not mean that the initial ideas are completely consistent, but that different judgments are exchanged repeatedly before the work is completed, and finally a common result is formed.

This provides another perspective on understanding independent brands: in addition to the inspiration behind the clothes, it also includes the working methods and production rhythm.
When you look at a finished work, you can further think about how materials, patterns and shapes are connected, rather than just attributing all the details to the intuition of one designer.
The presence of stage costumes still has to face the action
Agro Studio also has experience in making costumes for artists.
The designers consider strong impression, freedom of movement and stability when wearing. The stage needs to be visible from afar, but the actual clothes still need to move with the body and respond to the specific needs of the performers and stylists.

Therefore, dramatic silhouette does not have to be dichotomous with practicality.
How the sleeves, waist and hem make movements happen is an important detail in understanding this type of clothing.
In addition to static photos, moving images also provide different information.
Watch this season first, and then reserve curiosity about the next step
The metal experiment mentioned in the interview is a clue to material exploration, not a confirmed theme for next season.
Identifying what a designer is thinking and drawing conclusions about an unpublished work are two different things.
Glass Body allows material research, co-creation and wearing needs to enter the picture at the same time.
From transparency and weight, soft color to moving silhouettes, you can understand how the romance of Agro Studio is actually made.
