On the night George Clooney received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival, Amal Clooney's hair color became another detail worth staring at. Her longtime go-to hairstylist and makeup artist Dimitris Giannetos (assisted by David Mazzotta) gave her what he calls "blurred brown," an autumn hair color.
This technique doesn't mean completely covering up summer's lighter caramel brown tones. Giannetos explained to Vogue that the point is to let those summer-lightened strands "still be there, just turned into a see-through kind of highlight," while the overall tone stays rich and doesn't look faded. He used L'Oréal Paris products to create this interplay of light and dark brown layers, finishing by blow-drying the hair into voluminous, textured curls—the kind of hairstyle that catches the wind beautifully as she rode a water taxi through Venice's canals.
The makeup continued Amal Clooney's signature approach. Giannetos used Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat lip liner (in the shade Foxy Brown) to draw a soft, matte pink-brown lip, then blended the edges with a soft brush; the same color was also lightly swept onto the cheeks, paired with a warm-toned contour cream for shaping. To set the look, Charlotte Tilbury's Airbrush Loose Powder was pressed onto the T-zone and lightly dusted over the lips to extend wear time. Giannetos described the goal as "keeping her makeup soft, with a bit of airiness," echoing the Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann black gown she wore that night—a body-skimming silhouette crafted from silk taffeta with leather detailing creating fold lines, paired with matching Vertigo heels and a clutch in the same tone from the same brand.
