BEAMS 50th Market Life Exhibition took place on October 17 and 18, 2026 at Warehouse No. 1 in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. Looking back at this Taipei project now, what is worth remembering is not just the limited product list, but how the selection of items, community and archive preservation are connected in one event, so that the time behind the clothes can also be seen.
Among them, EXPEDITION CLUB TAIWAN takes the outdoor collection of BEAMS PLUS chief buyer Shigeru Kaneko and "OUTDOOR EXPEDITION BOOK 99" as clues, and introduces related catalogs from the Outdoor Recreation Archive of Utah State University in the United States. This article is a compilation of events that have ended, not an announcement that tickets are still available for purchase.
Key facts
The Taipei event ended on October 17th and 18th, and the venue was Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Warehouse No. 1.
EXPEDITION CLUB combines classic outdoor collections, historical catalogs, books and conversations.

50 years of product selection, expanding from commodities to life culture
BEAMS was founded in Harajuku, Tokyo in 1976. It has gradually expanded from small stores to areas such as clothing, music, art, sports, outdoor and Japanese culture. The 50th anniversary Taipei event also brought together brands, second-hand selections, workshops, catering and exchanges to present this cross-field life proposal.
To understand the select shop, you can first look at how it puts originally different products into a common context: a coat, a catalog and a book may be related by design history or usage. This relationship can better illustrate the store's point of view than a single trademark, and also makes shopping a process of understanding culture.

Shigeru Kaneko’s collection, view together with the outdoor brand catalog
The core of EXPEDITION CLUB is to put long-term collection of classic outdoor items in the same space as historical paper materials. The pockets, zippers, fabrics and colors of outdoor clothing can be re-understood through the original usage scenarios in the catalog, and are not just renamed by today's fashion.
Publications such as "OUTDOOR EXPEDITION BOOK 99" and "The Outdoor Archive" also provide ways to bring exhibition clues back to daily life. When reading, you can compare the combination, functional description and physical details of a certain piece of clothing in the catalog, and then observe which parts have been retained, deleted or transformed in today's design.
After the event, how to establish your own method of selecting items?
The easiest way to practice is to ask three things before buying: why is it designed like this, how does it match the clothes you already own, and whether it can be used repeatedly in daily life. Understanding the origin and construction methods does not mean that you have to buy vintage or high-priced products, but it gives you a clearer reason for your choice.
If you want to extend from this review, you can start with books, brand archives or existing stores. There is no need to chase unverified second-hand premiums because of missed events. This article retains historical event photos and end dates, and does not describe then-limited gifts, tickets, or talk spots as still available.
