Three Years of Weather Wrecking the Lineup, Bonnaroo Decides to Skip 2027 Entirely

What does it look like when a festival gets beaten by rain three years running? 2024 was pushed back due to the pandemic and then canceled outright. 2025 was cut short mid-event over "record-breaking rainfall." And in 2026, even though the festival made it through all four days, a heavy downpour hit hard on Sunday. This time, Bonnaroo's organizers aren't rolling the dice on the weather again—they're calling for a full year off in 2027 to let the site recover.

The decision was announced via the festival's social media account. In the post, organizers noted that ahead of the 2026 edition, they'd poured significant funds into upgrading the campgrounds and Centeroo area—improving drainage, laying down 4.5 miles of new roadway, and planting 135 acres of fresh sod—all aimed at making "The Farm" more resilient to extreme weather. But after years of back-to-back storms, capped off by this year's heavy Sunday downpour, organizers concluded the main venue needs time to properly recover.

"This wasn't an easy call, and we didn't take it lightly, but we know in our hearts that this break will only make Bonnaroo better," organizers wrote in the post.

Looking back, Bonnaroo's track record with bad weather isn't short. 2020 was postponed due to the pandemic and then canceled outright, and the following year was also called off due to rain issues. The 2025 lineup—headlined by Tyler, The Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, and Hozier—had a strong opening, but was still canceled mid-run after record rainfall made the campgrounds unsafe. This year's edition, running June 11–14, wrapped successfully with The Strokes, Turnstile, Skrillex, and Noah Kahan headlining—marking the first real stress test for the newly completed drainage and roadway upgrades.

As for when Bonnaroo will return and what the 2028 lineup might look like, organizers have yet to share further details.
