What to know | BYREDO and Iittala’s LJUS Brings Glass, Light and Scent Together

The key details: The first collaboration launched October 16. Glass objects and fragrance products are sold separately, with different uses and compatibility requirements.

What to know | BYREDO and Iittala’s LJUS Brings Glass, Light and Scent Together

BYREDO cooperates with Finnish design brand Iittala for the first time to launch the limited glass series LJUS, which launched in Japan on October 16, 2026. The name comes from the Swedish image of light and candlelight. From candles, incense sticks to diffuser containers, the transparent surface of the glass and the way of using the fragrance are placed in the same design framework, rather than just replacing the original fragrance with an outer box.

Glass reveals light while retaining its own form

The collection is produced at the Iittala Finnish glass factory, including mouth-blowing and hand-forming processes. Small bubbles on the surface and subtle differences in shape are the characteristics of the production. Such differences should be understood together with the workmanship allowed by the brand. The actual product status still needs to be confirmed in accordance with official standards. Any cracks or damage cannot be regarded as hand-made features.

Transparency does not mean that there is no sense of existence. The thickness, arc and edge of the object will change the way light passes through, making the outline of the candle when it is extinguished and the reflection after it is lit different; as a home object, it simultaneously deals with light, surface and space it occupies.

The functions of candlesticks, refractors and incense holders should be looked at separately

Items announced in Japan include candle holders for 33,000 yen, candle decorations for 36,300 yen, incense holders for 39,600 yen, refractors for 63,800 yen, and diffuser glass bottles for 52,800 yen. Although they belong to the same transparent glass series, they have different ways of contacting and containing fragrance.

The official specification is also BYREDO 240g scented candle that is compatible with some items. When selecting, you should confirm the purpose and size of each item one by one, and do not replace different containers with each other if you see similar calibers. The appearance and actual use conditions of glassware should be read together.

After the fragrance is used up, the glass objects can still remain

The fragrance content includes Bibliothèque diffuser refill, as well as Bibliothèque, Burning Rose and Tree House fragrance set. The price announced in Japan is 16,280 yen for the refill solution and 10,230 yen for the incense stick set, which are sold separately from the glass glass objects. They appear together in the photo, which does not mean that all fragrances will be included with the purchase of any glass object.

Separating the container from its contents provides the possibility of continued use, but also requires compliance with specified cleaning and use instructions. If you mainly want to collect glass shapes, you can first check whether the fragrance is suitable for your space, and then decide whether to add the corresponding fragrance, instead of just judging the total price based on the set photos.

The theme of Nordic light, return to the actual placement at home

The series is inspired by the transition from white night to soft winter light. When viewed at home, it will be affected by the tabletop, window light and surrounding materials. You can first pay attention to the size and background of the placement location to see if the edge of the glass is clear, and then arrange and use it according to the designated method of the product.

Japanese series information can be foundIittala official LJUS introduction, sales and price in Taiwan need to be confirmed separately. What is worth seeing in this collaboration is how familiar daily fragrances are rearranged by a glass object: light and fragrance are used for a short time, while the container remains in life at another speed.
