Milk Carton-Shaped Speaker S and M Mark CMF's Debut in the Speaker Category, With Mutual Pairing Support

Designing a speaker to look like a milk carton is eye-catching enough on its own, let alone when it's CMF—a brand known for its teardown-friendly aesthetic—doing it. This Nothing sub-brand is rolling out its first portable speakers, launching two models right out of the gate: Speaker S and Speaker M. Both share a boxy, rounded-corner carton silhouette, come in orange, teal, and white colorways, and feature a hole at the top so you can clip them onto a backpack or tent.

Both speakers are now available on Nothing's official online store, with the Speaker S priced at $59 and the Speaker M at $109. The most charming design detail is the control knob—not only can you choose its shape and color, but the knob and faceplate can also be swapped between the two models. The knob pulls multiple duties, handling not just volume but also track skipping and rewind.

CMF Launches Its First Speakers, Speaker S and M Come in Milk Carton Shape and Can Pair With Each Other

Spec-wise, the Speaker S packs a 45mm full-range driver paired with a set of passive radiators to boost the bass. The Speaker M, roughly twice the height of the Speaker S, crams in a 10W tweeter, dual drivers, and a 25W woofer, with two sound ports. Both speakers support Bluetooth 6.0, carry an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, and are rated for up to 18 hours of battery life. Charging and data transfer both go through USB-C, which doubles as an audio input—though no cable is included in the box.

The pairing feature is a rare touch at this price point: both models can pair with another unit of the same model, though you can't mix and match S with M. They support Auracast, NFC pairing, Google Fast Pair, and Microsoft Swift Pair—basically rounding up nearly every new Bluetooth audio protocol from the past couple of years. Engadget editor Mat Smith tested a pair of Speaker S units and said that given the size and price, the sound output was richer than expected.

CMF also says it will release design files for the speakers, letting users 3D print their own custom handles or accessories—an approach that echoes Teenage Engineering's past product philosophy. Both speakers are currently on sale; for detailed retailer information, check out Nothing's official online store。
