Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Early Access Countdown: Doors Open to All Platforms After Aug. 25 Cutoff

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta's early access week wraps up on August 25, after which players on every platform—including Nintendo Switch 2—will be free to jump into matches without restriction starting next week.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Early Access Countdown: Doors Open to All Platforms After Aug. 25 Cutoff

Fast forward to August 25, and the early access beta test for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC will officially close its doors. Activision has set the shutdown time at 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern / 6 p.m. UK time / 7 p.m. CET—which means Taiwan players still have one last weekend push to squeeze in extra matches and lock down their rewards before the beta goes offline.

This week's early access is limited to select platforms only—full open access for everyone won't kick in until next weekend. That's when the beta unlocks for all players, with Nintendo Switch 2 owners finally joining the fight and no more platform or eligibility restrictions in place.

Story details are also rolling out alongside the beta: Modern Warfare 4 sets its battlefield on the Korean Peninsula, where a full-scale North Korean invasion sends the region spiraling out of control. A squad of young South Korean soldiers fights to survive as the front line collapses around them, while halfway across the world, Captain Price wages a solo revenge mission in the shadows—hunting down the truth while dodging those hunting him. As Price's off-the-books operation collides head-on with the forces behind the invasion, the war escalates to a scale no one can contain. Activision says this installment pushes the series toward darker, higher-stakes territory, driving multiple long-running threads toward a more emotionally charged conclusion.

Official pricing and a full release date have yet to be announced, leaving the beta as players' main window into how this installment feels and where its story is headed.
