Christopher Lee Calls Chris Wu a 'Closet Flirt' in Bad Blood Cleaners

Netflix crime series "Bad Blood Cleaners" has released character featurettes, with Christopher Lee and Chris Wu playing an odd-couple pair of "cleaners"—one older, one younger—whose age and background contrast make them the show's most compelling duo. The series premieres September 17.

Christopher Lee Calls Chris Wu a 'Closet Flirt' in Bad Blood Cleaners

"He doesn't really pay much attention to me. Instead, it takes someone middle-aged with more life experience to draw him out and flip his happy switch," Christopher Lee said of his co-star Chris Wu, describing him as a "closet flirt"—sharp-tongued on the outside, soft and girly on the inside, plus "big nostrils, small eyes." That single description does more to explain why this duo works than any plot synopsis could.

Netflix today released character featurettes for the crime action series "Bad Blood Cleaners," co-directed by Hung Tzu-hsuan of "96 Minutes" and Chang Heng-ju of "The Copycat Killer," starring Christopher Lee, Chris Wu, Nikki Hsieh, Johnny Kou, Vivian Hsu, Fu Meng-po, and Chang Yung-cheng. The story centers on an underground "cleaner" organization based at the century-old Qinghe Temple, whose members handle sensitive matters too delicate to go public for figures on both sides of the law as well as political and business elites.

Christopher Lee plays Chiang Fu-sheng, a debt-ridden gangster stuck in a midlife crisis—outwardly sloppy, foul-mouthed, and prone to drunkenly confessing his feelings to random people. But he was once part of the "Sanhe Gang," where rumor has it he earned the nickname "Golden Trigger Finger" for his fast, precise shooting. As Lee puts it: "He used to be an incredibly fast and accurate shot. He really knew how to use his own methods to deal with whoever needed dealing with."

His partner, Hsueh Chiu-nan (played by Chris Wu), is the polar opposite: a son of a political dynasty who wears oversized gray suits, sports a center part, lives in a mansion, drives sports cars, and spends his free time playing golf and tennis. Wu admits the role wasn't easy to pull off: "This character is insanely rich, and I'm not that rich, so playing someone with that kind of wealth was really tough for me."

Despite their vastly different ages and backgrounds, the two are paired up by Qinghe Temple to work cases together, gradually building rapport through their initial friction. This mismatched pairing is exactly what makes the featurette so compelling to watch.

Chris Wu also took on several action sequences this time, and he singled out an elevator fight scene as the most memorable: "We smashed through the glass, and it looked amazing—right after I hit the glass, cracks spread out across the mirror behind me. It was gorgeous, and thankfully I managed to keep a straight face so they could actually use that shot." His onscreen opponent in that scene, Shen Mei-na (played by Nikki Hsieh), is a cleaner working for the Yueye Hall who lost both parents young and was raised by an unkind aunt, making her skilled in close combat and precision shooting. Wu describes the feeling after facing off with her: "You realize this person is in the same line of work as you, has the same skills as you—and might even be better than you."

Vivian Hsu takes on a complete departure from her usual image this time, playing Yueye Hall's founder, "Sister Fan." She describes the character as "ruthless and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals—basically a villain." Fu Meng-po plays Hsueh Chiu-nan's older brother, Hsueh Chun-cheng, who also comes from the political dynasty as his father's chosen successor and a mayoral candidate; the brothers end up on very different paths due to their father's favoritism. Fu says: "I actually envy my younger brother, because he gets to be such a free and unrestrained person."

"Bad Blood Cleaners" consists of 10 episodes, with the full season dropping all at once on Netflix on September 17, 2026.
