Gaggenau Taipei Flagship Store: Red Brick, Serpentine Stone, and Shophouse Depth

Gaggenau's Taipei flagship store opened in Xinyi District on September 21, 2026, designed by the German studio 1zu33, with a space exceeding 70 ping (about 231 square meters). Beyond kitchen appliances, the store incorporates Taiwanese shophouse architecture, woodwork, and stone into the brand's display.

The design draws on the narrow, deep layout of Dadaocheng shophouses, allowing the exhibition areas to unfold in sequence. Handmade bricks from Changhua, serpentine stone from Hualien, and Naguri-finished wood surfaces provide varied tactile backdrops for the metal appliances. A five-meter island serves as the spatial core for gathering and cooking.

For those planning a kitchen, what's worth noting is not just a single appliance, but how movement flows between food preparation, cooking, and dining. Thinking through circulation and storage first makes material choices more likely to serve everyday life, rather than just look good in photos.
