What to know | InterContinental Taipei Opens With 347 Rooms and Residential-Style Suites

The InterContinental Taipei opened in the Taipei Dome complex, with a total of 347 guest rooms and apartment-style suites, with "In Taipei, For Taipei" as the main design theme. The hotel connects accommodation, catering and surrounding performance activities, but you still need to distinguish three things when choosing: room size, view direction and the actual operating hours of the restaurant. Not all rooms have complete kitchens, and not every window faces Taipei 101.

Classic rooms and apartment-style suites, suitable for different ways of stay

Classic guest rooms start from about 38 square meters (11.5 ping); apartment-style suites start from about 76 square meters (23 ping), and some are equipped with complete kitchens, dining areas and in-room laundry facilities. If you are staying for a short stay to watch exhibitions, concerts or business accommodation, you can first choose a room according to the circulation and bed type; if you need to stay for a long time, do laundry or have simple meals by yourself, the differences in equipment in apartment-style suites are worth taking a closer look at.

Byredo amenities, Dyson hair dryers and Smeg kettles are announced in the room. Drinking water is provided in glass bottles and filtered water to reduce disposable packaging. These details can be used as equipment comparisons, but what really affects accommodation is the actual room type, number of guests, and services included in the plan. The overall experience cannot be inferred from just a few brand names.

Raindrops in the lobby connect Taipei’s common memories

The lobby uses suspended crystals to form the image of raindrops, and the design narrative connects the rain-delayed baseball game in 1991 and the city’s imagination of indoor stadiums. Window grilles, old street tiles and musical lines appear in the lounge, executive floors and banquet spaces, allowing Taipei’s life symbols to re-enter the hotel with materials and proportions.

When looking at this type of space, you can pay attention to which elements really change the light and movement, and which are part of the design story. Walking from the lobby to the dining room or guest room, observing how the metal grille, stone and glass are connected will make it easier to understand the overall arrangement than just taking a photo of the entrance.

Seven catering concepts, each with its own role at different times

Catering is coordinated by Trevor Allan MacLeod, and the planning includes Thea Lounge, NTD Eatery, Rough Cuts, Simple Sips and Yi Social. The content ranges from tea drinks, Italian sharing dishes, live-fired steaks and seafood to bars and buffets, allowing people other than residents to choose according to the party style.

In the opening introduction, two other dining space plans led by Akira Back will debut in November: Akira Back combines modern Japanese, Korean and global flavors, and DOSA by Akira Back focuses on contemporary Korean cuisine. This is the brand's opening arrangement, and reservations should still confirm the actual opening status on that day; award-winning records of restaurants in other cities cannot be directly regarded as the new Taipei store has obtained the same evaluation.

When going to the Taipei Dome or Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, how can I include a hotel in the itinerary?

The hotel is located at No. 535, Section 4, Zhongxiao East Road, Xinyi District, close to Taipei Dome and Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. The general check-in and check-out times are 15:00 and 12:00 respectively. You can check throughHotel official websiteCheck room types, catering reservations and plans for the day; when the event is over, time for crowds and transportation should also be reserved.

If you are only arranging one meal, you can plan according to the restaurant floor and meal period first, instead of tying accommodation and dining into the same decision. If the purpose is to take a short trip to the city, the exhibitions at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, surrounding walks, and guest room rest can be interspersed, making this new hotel a stopover in the journey rather than just a check-in background.
