JISOO and LISA Drop New Songs on the Same Day: Setting Off Together, Growing Into Who They Each Want to Be

After being seen as part of a group, can you still hold onto your own voice? It's a question every long-term collaboration eventually faces. For BLACKPINK, the answer is slowly unfolding through each of the four members' individual music: the group hasn't erased their individuality — if anything, it's given each of them a clearer starting point.

On September 4, JISOO and LISA each released a brand-new solo single on the same day, just four hours apart. According to Yonhap News Agency, LISA released "SaWaDiKa" at 9am Korean time, followed by JISOO's "Click" at 1pm — landing exactly about a month after BLACKPINK celebrated its tenth anniversary.

LISA wrote a look back at her homeland right into the title. "SaWaDiKa" comes from the Thai greeting, and the track carries her signature rap over a hip-hop beat — it's the lead single from her solo EP *Press Play*, with the full release set for October 23. She'll also perform "Viva La Lisa" at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on November 13, 14, 27, and 28. For a performer who left home and became a global star abroad, reopening with the most familiar greeting of all is both a reintroduction and a way of bringing the road she's traveled back into her work.

JISOO's "Click" moves in a different direction entirely. According to her agency Blissoo, the song is about two people who know they shouldn't get close, yet naturally fall into sync anyway — it will serve as the first lead single off her debut solo full-length album. The music video was directed by Joseph Kahn, who has previously worked with artists like Taylor Swift and Eminem. Rather than trying to out-volume anyone, JISOO puts cool composure, romance, and a sense of danger all in the same frame.

With both songs dropping the same day, social media inevitably turned to numbers, view counts, and rankings. But for many women who've grown up alongside sisters or coworkers, there may be a more moving way to read it: the people close to you don't have to walk the same path for it to still count as standing side by side. One turned her hometown into a rhythm; the other turned restraint into allure. One shining doesn't take anything away from the other's place.

Moving from the group's tenth anniversary into their next chapter of solo work, JISOO and LISA demonstrate something quite mature: a relationship doesn't need to prove itself by staying permanently tied together.
