What to know | Kimpton Da An’s 2026 updates: mahjong, city-inspired fragrance and specialty coffee

Kimpton Da An in Taipei announced its 2026 programme after receiving One MICHELIN Key. The focus is on fragrance, social interaction and drinks experiences within the guest room, rather than a major refurbishment.

Why has Mahjong become a new social option for travelers and accommodation?

The hotel has introduced the Kimpton brand’s global project “Mahjong & Mingle” into its Taipei location. This project has previously been launched at Kimpton hotels in Amsterdam, London and other cities. In Asia, only Kimpton Maa-Lai in Bangkok and Kimpton Da An in Taipei have participated, positioning it as a localized social experience. Guests staying at the hotel can borrow an exclusive mahjong set from the counter to play in the room, or choose a paid add-on to get Canapé snacks for four people and red and white sparkling wine or a cocktail mix, turning the room into a private gathering place.

How to design the guest room fragrance system?

Matthew Lim, general manager of Kimpton Da An Hotel, explained that the 2026 upgrade blueprint aims to create a space that allows travelers to settle their souls. Therefore, the hotel launched the "Urban Fragrance Sanctuary" project to transform the brand's concept of escape into local scents. Three exclusive fragrance sprays are available in the guest room, including the "Morning Wake-up Mist" with orange blossom scent, the "Daytime Wake-up Mist" with lemon to boost energy, and the "Evening Sleep Mist" with clary sage, creating a restful atmosphere for the senses.

What are the contents of the specialty coffee-themed room type "Xiang Yun Mingsuo"?

This theme room activity was originally scheduled to be launched from now until March 31, 2026, but the application period has currently expired. During the event, travelers can upgrade for an additional fee of NT$1,000 to use a retro gold coffee pot and professional equipment to brew 4 Bacha Coffee bags in the room, including Mount Sidamo, Lagoa, 1910 and Yirgacheffe, paired with Far From Africa scented candles and handmade chocolate coffee cookies. In addition, every morning’s “Kimpton Morning Kickstart” also offers a full range of Bacha Coffee’s Magdalena products.

What kind of coffee-themed drinks and desserts does the restaurant on the 12th floor offer?

The bartending and pastry teams of The Tavernist, the restaurant on the 12th floor of the hotel, design a series of items based on Bacha Coffee. "Velvet Dawn" combines bourbon whiskey with the fruity aroma of wild berries, while "Noir Citrus" combines the citrus-cocoa flavor of gin, herbal liqueur and coffee. Desserts include the "Orient Noir" served in a tagine, with cinnamon and green cardamom candied orange peel, and the "Pistachio Reverie" with pistachio mascarpone mousse. Both desserts are based on 75% Tanzanian dark chocolate pastry, with a finish of espresso and coffee liqueur.

Where is the address of Kimpton Da An Hotel?

The hotel is located at No. 25, Lane 27, Section 4, Renai Road, Daan District, Taipei City. The overall upgrade plan breaks away from the traditional hardware framework and focuses on smell, social interaction and drinking, redefining the functions of boutique hotels.
