'WandaVision' Trilogy Wraps Up: Ultron Returns Along With Vision's Memories

The trailer opens not with Vision at war, but with Vision working a bar job. Beneath the humanoid shell, he's still thinking about Wanda Maximoff (played by Elizabeth Olsen). The image itself is a contrast: a character who was once an all-powerful synthezoid now quietly sorting through his fragmented memories in the most ordinary of settings.

This trailer, released by Disney+, marks the first official trailer for 'VisionQuest' and Paul Bettany's return in live-action form to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time since 'WandaVision,' four years ago. As the story unfolds, Vision retreats into a hidden space within his own consciousness, trying to piece together memories and identity that had been erased. This inner journey reveals the trailer's biggest reveal: James Spader is back, both voice and avatar belonging to that once out-of-control AI, Ultron.

James D'Arcy's J.A.R.V.I.S. also appears in the trailer, his tone one of caution — warning Vision that he shouldn't keep his creator close by. In a way, that warning also sums up where 'VisionQuest' stands: this isn't a new story, it's the continuation of old debts.

The eight-episode season serves as the finale of the 'WandaVision' trilogy, with a cast made up entirely of AI characters from the Marvel universe: Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., T'nia Miller as Jocasta, and Ruaridh Mollica as the adult version of Tommy Maximoff. A whole ensemble of artificial intelligence characters together is a setup unusual enough to deserve attention on its own.

'VisionQuest' is set to premiere on Disney+ on October 14.
