A track that's been sleeping for thirty years since its appearance on 1995's "Different Class" finally found its voice on stage. On the night of September 5th, Pulp performed "Deep Fried in Kelvin" live for the very first time during their headline set at England's End of the Road festival — a song that had never once made it onto a tour or performance setlist, until that night.
The show also marked the closing date of Pulp's 2026 tour. Frontman Jarvis Cocker took to Instagram after the performance to tell fans this would be the band's "last show for now" — but quickly added, "not forever." A statement that left the door open, while still making clear just how weighty the moment was.
The night's setlist was practically an archaeological dig. "Little Girl (With Blue Eyes)" got its first outing since 2012, "Forever in My Dreams" returned to the stage after twenty-six years away, and both "The Mark of the Devil" and "Death II" hadn't been played since 1992. Near the end of the set, the band also broke out "We Are the Boyz" — its first public performance since 1998.
Throughout the night, footage retracing Pulp's history played behind the band on stage, and Cocker even led the crowd in a rendition of "Happy Birthday to You" — fitting, given End of the Road is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The whole setup felt less like a routine tour closer and more like a deliberate, commemorative farewell — both to a festival the band has been tied to for two decades, and to this chapter of their own touring life.
The full setlist included "I Spy," "Little Girl (With Blue Eyes)," "The Mark of the Devil," "Background Noise," "Tina," "Forever in My Dreams," "Deep Fried in Kelvin," "Death II," "O.U. (Gone, Gone)," "Babies," "Razzmatazz," "Lipgloss," "Happy Birthday to You," "Do You Remember the First Time?," "Spike Island," "Got to Have Love," "Underwear," "Common People," "This Is Hardcore," "We Are the Boyz," "Something Changed," and "Sunrise."
Even as they step back from live shows, Pulp isn't slowing down elsewhere. Following last year's album "More," the band contributed the new track "Begging For Change" to War Child's charity compilation "Help(2)," and digitally released an EP featuring two more new songs, "Marrying For Love" and "Cold Call On The Hotline." The band is also releasing a concert film, "What Do You Do For An Encore?," documenting last year's two sold-out shows at London's O2. It's set for a one-night theatrical preview in the UK and Ireland on September 18th, followed by a Canadian theatrical release on September 23rd, a US release on September 24th, and streaming on MUBI starting September 25th.
