Taipei Fine Arts Museum will present "Ryuichi Sakamoto | Seeing Sound, Hearing Time" from October 31, 2026 to March 14, 2027. The exhibition brings together seven large-scale installations and related archival materials, looking back at how, since the 2000s, he brought sound together with image, digital technology, and space to form his works.
Collaborating artists include Shiro Takatani, Daito Manabe, Carsten Nicolai, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, and Zakkubalan. Mediums such as water, mist, meteorological data, and electromagnetic waves extend the experience of music to the position of the body in space, offering audiences familiar with Sakamoto's film scores another path toward approaching his creative work.
This type of exhibition invites visitors to slow their viewing pace: first sensing how sound enters a space, then paying attention to the relationship between image and one's own movement. When planning a date or an outing with friends, it may also help to set aside time for conversation after the visit, rather than rushing to find a single answer for each piece.
The exhibition operates primarily on online reservations, with only a small number of on-site waitlist spots available each day; each entry slot lasts one hour. Reservations for sessions from October 31 to November 29 have been open since October 15. Actual availability, future opening dates, and ticket prices should be confirmed on OPENTIX and the museum's official page; reserving other lectures does not constitute a completed exhibition reservation.
