What to know | Umana Bali in Uluwatu: 72 villas and a clifftop resort overlooking the ocean

Uluwatu, at the southern tip of Bali, has continued to attract top international resorts in recent years. Umana Bali, part of the Hilton Group's LXR Hotels & Resorts series, is one of the resorts that opened after the epidemic. It presents the local luxury accommodation in a full villa style with cliff views.

What kind of resort is Umana Bali?

Umana Bali is located on the limestone cliff terrain on the coast of the Indian Ocean. There are 72 villas in the area. Each villa faces the sea and is equipped with a private infinity pool large enough for guests to actually swim and play in the water. The resort also offers a two-bedroom Villa option. The public space includes a living room, kitchen, outdoor pavilion and massage pool, forming a relatively independent living unit, suitable for families or friends to stay together. The relevant introduction mentions that the reference price of this type of two-bedroom sea view pool villa is NT$41,000 per night.

Why has full Villa mode become the focus of discussion?

Compared with traditional guest-room resorts, the full villa configuration helps guests avoid a feeling of crowding even when the room is full. Most of the public swimming pools in the resorts are kept quiet, and most guests use them briefly before returning to their respective Villas, creating a low-density, privacy-focused accommodation experience. This model also echoes the "destination-style travel" arrangement in which most holiday activities can be completed within the park without having to go out frequently after check-in.

What dining and experience facilities are available in the park?

Umana Bali has two main restaurants. Oliverra, located on the edge of the cliff, specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, with a terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean; the all-day dining restaurant Commune serves a rotating menu of local street food, including Nasi Jinggo, Nasi Bakar and other Indonesian dishes, presenting a menu arrangement that is closer to Bali's daily food culture, rather than standard tourist meals.

The resort also has Lohma Spa, which provides massage treatments. In addition, if guests want to go outside the park for activities, the resort has a shuttle bus to Melasti Beach below the cliff. Uma Beach Club, the self-operated beach club of Umana Bali, is also located here, providing a lively beach atmosphere in contrast to the tranquility in the park.

What local cultural experience activities are available?

Umana Bali also arranges cooking classes with local food culture as the core. The chef will lead tourists from spices, sauces to cooking processes, and make home-cooked Indonesian dishes such as Nasi Bakar. The resort also provides coffee experience activities to introduce the flavor profiles and roasting differences of coffee from different regions in Indonesia. Through food and drinks, tourists can understand the daily life of Bali while on vacation.

How to access and check information?

Umana Bali's address is Jl. Melasti, Ungasan, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali, close to the famous Uluwatu’s coastal temples and surfing spots in Uluwatu. Travelers interested in arranging Bali itineraries can check Umana Bali's room configuration and related information through the official website of Hilton Group LXR Hotels & Resorts.
