UNIQLO brings Monchhichi embroidery to Japan: designs, prices and bringing your own clothes
Monchhichi embroidery starts at selected RE.UNIQLO STUDIO locations in Japan on October 23. Explore 14 designs, prices of ¥700 or ¥1,500 per motif, and garment conditions.
Monchhichi is moving from childhood memories onto everyday clothes. From October 23, selected RE.UNIQLO STUDIO locations in Japan offer 14 embroidery designs, giving eligible items already in your wardrobe another reason to stay in rotation.
The service is charged separately; buying a limited item does not automatically include embroidery. Fabric, placement and the store’s workload affect what can be done. For visitors to Japan, choosing a garment and checking the shop and collection schedule are as important as choosing a character.
Key details
Starts October 23, 2026, at selected RE.UNIQLO STUDIO locations in Japan.
Fourteen designs: outline and logo motifs cost ¥700 each; full-colour designs cost ¥1,500 each.
Eligible new or previously purchased UNIQLO garments may be accepted; some collaborations, BABY items and underwear are excluded.
Outline or full colour changes the visual balance
Outline designs keep the character relatively subtle, while coloured versions give faces, clothes and bodies more detail. Some designs offer a choice of 19 thread colours. Ask staff to assess the size and stitching area before assuming a motif can go beside any pocket or cuff.
Consider the colour of the garment itself. Low-contrast stitching can blend into a work wardrobe, while a colourful figure can become the centre of a casual outfit. If you want several motifs, confirm each charge and all approved placements before proceeding.

Bring an older favourite, but check its condition first
The service can work with eligible new and older UNIQLO items, rather than every garment without exception. Thickness, stretch, seams, wear and the intended position are useful points to discuss with staff. A frequently worn piece in good condition is a practical starting point.
For a gift, fit and the recipient’s habits still come first. If you hope to buy and customise something during a trip, ask about the production schedule and allow time to collect it. Do not leave an unconfirmed service until your final stop before departure.
Embroidery and UTme! printing are separate services
UTme! also offers 88 Monchhichi illustrations for printing, a different selection from the 14 embroidery designs. Printing and stitching differ in texture, scale and eligible products. State clearly which service you want when contacting a store.
Check that your chosen shop has RE.UNIQLO STUDIO, then ask about that day’s acceptance and collection arrangements. Once the garment is finished, follow its washing and care instructions and avoid pulling the stitching when handling or storing it.
