The retrospective exhibition "Virgil Abloh: The Codes," presented jointly by The Virgil Abloh Archive™ and Nike, is scheduled to debut on December 10, 2026, at The Shed in New York City and will run through January 18, 2027. Tickets are scheduled to go on public sale on October 23, 2026, starting at 25 US dollars.
What Does the Exhibition Feature?
Curated by Chloe Sultan and Mahfuz Sultan, the exhibition features nearly 1,000 works spanning Virgil Abloh's creative journey in fashion, art, architecture, graphic design, and music. Finished products, prototypes, manuscripts, and historical archives are on display, showcasing his approach to morphological experimentation and collaborative projects. The exhibition space will recreate Abloh's Paris office and feature an interactive media lab containing original design files for visitors to explore his creative process.
How Does It Connect to Previous Touring Exhibitions?
According to a statement from Nike, the New York stop continues the curatorial approach of previous touring exhibitions in Paris and Miami, while placing a greater emphasis on materializing Abloh's creative thinking. The Miami stop previously debuted unreleased Off-White™ x Nike Terra Forma footwear models, while the Paris stop first unveiled the V.A.A. x Nike Zoom M9 Cryoshot. There is currently no official confirmation on whether new sneakers will debut at the New York stop.
