Asked If He Could Drop 100 in a Game, 22-Year-Old Wembanyama Doesn't Hesitate: "I Agree"

Asked point-blank whether he could score 100 points in a single game, Victor Wembanyama didn't bother with a polite dodge — he put himself right next to Wilt Chamberlain's 63-year-old record in the same breath.

Asked If He Could Drop 100 in a Game, 22-Year-Old Wembanyama Doesn't Hesitate: "I Agree"

Quick-fire Q&As usually give players room to dance around a question, but Victor Wembanyama wasn't interested in dancing. French content creator Rookicks tossed out what sounded like a half-joking question — do you believe you can score 100 points in a single game? The 22-year-old Spurs center paused for less than a second before answering: "I agree, yes." No laughing it off, no "I'm just kidding" caveat attached.

The weight of that answer comes from what it's pointing at. The single-game 100-point mark was set by Wilt Chamberlain back in 1962, and no one in the NBA has truly come close to it in the six-plus decades since. Kobe Bryant's 81-point explosion against the Raptors in 2006 is widely considered the modern-era ceiling, and even Bam Adebayo's 83-point outburst this past March — built with the Heat deliberately feeding him the ball and using intentional fouls to stop the clock — was still a number achieved through full-team cooperation. Wembanyama's current career high stands at 50 points, set against the Wizards in 2024 — still a full 50 points shy of the century club.

22歲被問能否單場攻下100分 Wembanyama只回兩個字:我同意

But he's not just talking big for the sake of it. Back in February against Luka Doncic's Lakers, Wembanyama had already dropped 25 points in under 8 minutes, and by halftime he was sitting at 37. Had the Spurs not blown the game open in the second half — eventually winning 136-108 and pulling him early — the trajectory of that night could have looked very different. He finished with 40 points, falling short of triple digits due to limited minutes, not a cold hand.

For a player who just watched his team get eliminated in the NBA Finals, this would seem like the least likely moment to talk this big. Yet that's exactly when Wembanyama chose to put his name next to Chamberlain's. This wasn't some scripted PR confidence line — it was a straight answer to a question he was actually asked. As for when he might actually go for it, that wasn't part of the conversation.
