What to know | FDC International Hotels and VIVIR JiaoXi: design, dining and a new operating partnership in Yilan
The key details: FDC International Hotels signed an operating agreement with VIVIR JiaoXi in Yilan. The plan preserves the hotel’s Zen-inspired architecture and pairs a stay with two drinks and three meals. The announcement originally targeted a May 2026 reopening.
FDC International Hotels recently announced that it has joined hands with Yilan Design Hotel "VIVIR JiaoXi", and the two parties have officially signed an entrustment operation contract. This move has enabled the brand's "FDC’s Collection portfolio" to successfully expand into the Yilan–Hualien–Taitung market. On the basis of retaining the hotel's original architectural aesthetics and Zen-style artistic conception, FDC will fully take over the operation management, catering planning and service processes. The announcement originally envisaged a May 2026 reopening; that was the timetable stated at the time.
Why is "VIVIR JiaoXi" favored by FDC?
Regarding the reasons for this cooperation, Ding Yuanwei, general manager of FDC International Hotels, said that "VIVIR JiaoXi" has created a distinctive feature in the market with its brand core of "unmoving, clear" and unique architectural design. After FDC’s Collection portfolio took over this time, it first focused on maintaining its original design and profound Zen heritage, and combined it with its own service management system to accurately target high-spending customers who pursue life aesthetics and spiritual healing.
What is "one stay, two drinks and three meals"?
Breaking away from the "one stay, three meals" model commonly used in the industry, FDC has tailored a new accommodation experience of "one stay, two drinks and three meals" for the hotel. The operation team combines fine dining, specialty drinks, physical and mental healing activities with in-depth local exploration to extend travelers' stay and enrich their sensory experience, thus driving up average room prices and housing performance. This operating strategy also echoes the company's development layout of dual-track service and design.
What are the dining highlights?
The Habitat restaurant in the hotel plays the role of the core experience. FDC plans to introduce a Michelin-level culinary team to provide brunch, Japanese afternoon tea and set dinners. The space design adopts a semi-open "hole" concept, supplemented by large glass windows to introduce natural lighting, making the dining process both primitive and avant-garde, making the dining itself one of the core highlights of the journey.

What are the characteristics of the architecture and room design?
Designed by architect Tseng Chih-wei and the team of Ziran Yanghang, the main body of the building itself shows high artistic value. Its irregular and huge arc "tree hole" appearance symbolizes the source of life and a sheltered space. The hotel plans 31 guest rooms and 7 room types, all of which continue the design vocabulary of curves and natural elements. For example, the "Forest Room" has greenery outside the window, and the "Sunrise Room" overlooks the scenery of Guishan Island, providing visitors with an immersive natural experience.

How to implement the concept of sustainability in details?
In terms of hardware details and material selection, the hotel implements the use of local and environmentally friendly materials, from the Mengzong bamboo used on the exterior, diatomaceous-earth interior walls with the function of regulating moisture, to the baskets woven from Taiwanese shell-ginger leaves. At the same time, the hotel is equipped with an art gallery area and arranges in-depth roaming itineraries to guide tourists to re-experience the local customs and culture of Jiaoxi from multiple dimensions such as living, dining, art and tourism.
FDC’s Collection portfolio’s future layout direction
Looking at the current layout of FDC’s Collection portfolio, the operating bases include "Sukali Manhuo" in Wulai, New Taipei and "Baosang Machiya" in Taitung; in addition, there are three villas including "Xingyue Hot Spring" in Puli, Nantou, "Guangyu Wild Luxury" in Taibo, Chiayi, and Taichung Weidan Fugui Tianxin Special Zone The resort is in the planning and construction stage and is expected to be put into operation gradually from 2027 to 2028, thereby expanding the brand's influence in the resort market.
