Adam bookstore in the hills of Yuchi, Nantou adds reading and coffee to a Sun Moon Lake itinerary. Open since this summer, its undulating concrete walls, horizontal white roof and rust-orange spiral staircase invite a closer look at architecture and greenery.
It is near Sun Moon Lake, rather than directly facing its waters: the upstairs outlook is primarily mountains and woodland. Also note that October 21 is a Wednesday, one of its currently listed closing days. A newly published story is not a reason to head uphill without checking.

Read the walls, staircase and daylight as one route
Designed by 禹樂空間整合, the building contrasts rippling exposed concrete with a horizontal roof. Material texture remains visible while curves change with light and viewpoint, allowing the surrounding woodland to remain part of the composition.
Inside, the red spiral staircase is a strong focal point. An upstairs conical lightwell brings daylight through an opening above. Follow the facade, upward circulation and lightwell together to understand the design, while keeping the stairs and routes clear when photographing.

A place for reading, drinks and personal collections
A coffee counter and lifestyle selection occupy the ground floor; upstairs combines dining, reading and displays. Paintings, illustrations and anime figures add personality beyond a uniform gallery aesthetic, revealing the owner’s interests as part of the setting.
Listed refreshments include americano, latte, pour-over coffee, local cold-brew black tea, matcha and sparkling drinks, with croissants and bagels among the light food. NT$160–300 refers to some recent items, not a complete set or an admission ticket. The current menu and minimum-order rules govern a visit.

Allow for the hills, travel time and closing days
Arched windows frame different mountain-and-woodland views. Weather and sunlight change the experience. If your original goal is a lakeside sunset, retain a separate waterfront stop: this visit centres on architecture and trees, rather than replacing a lake-view itinerary.
The drive from Shuishe Pier is approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on roads and traffic. Parking is listed, without guaranteeing a space. Check reservations, dining limits, stroller access or accessibility needs with the venue before setting out.
