From Stovetop to Campfire: ADDI's STEKA Aluminum Pan for Mozambique Is Built to Last a Lifetime

A pan that can sauté on your kitchen stove and simmer over an open campfire — no swapping, no compromise. This is the problem STEKA sets out to solve.

STEKA is an octagonal aluminum frying pan designed by Swedish studio ADDI for Japanese outdoor brand Mozambique. The pan body is formed from a single piece of solid 5mm-thick aluminum, delivering heat conduction and retention comparable to cast iron, but at a fraction of the weight. Its octagonal shape and relatively tall, straight walls make it versatile enough for frying, sautéing, braising, and deep-frying — all in one vessel.

The handle is detachable, cast in aluminum, and secured with just a single stainless steel screw. Whether you want to pop the pan into the oven, save space in storage, or simply swap in a new handle after years of wear, there's no need to replace the entire pan. The accompanying lid draws on the Japanese technique of "otoshibuta" (drop lid), featuring a raised structure on its underside that circulates moisture inside the pan during cooking for a self-basting effect.

Every STEKA pan is hand-finished, with Mozambique producing just ten units per day — a deliberate embrace of slow, meticulous craftsmanship. Each pan comes with a five-year warranty and is now available on Mozambique's official website for ¥27,500 JPY, or approximately $172 USD.
