ADER ERROR Reworks the Birkenstock Boston Clog With Just One Stitched Flap

Korean label ADER ERROR teams up with Birkenstock's 1774 line for a Boston Clog that keeps the classic silhouette intact, setting itself apart with only a single stitched flap and an Ultra Blue suede upper.

ADER ERROR Reworks the Birkenstock Boston Clog With Just One Stitched Flap

You probably don't need an introduction to what Birkenstock's Boston Clog looks like. But this time, ADER ERROR isn't touching the silhouette at all — instead, they've added a single flap to the upper, stitched down with fine thread. That's it. No second design move.

This ADER ERROR x Birkenstock 1774 Boston Clog carries over the original's long-standing wooden last shape, with the cork footbed kept as is. The only change is a folded panel stitched onto the upper with understated stitching — arguably the only element on the entire shoe that could be called "design."

The color is actually what steals the show here. The upper comes in "Ultra Blue" suede, the same shade that's previously shown up on Birkenstock's Arizona sandals and Kyoto slides — a bit of electric blue the brand has clearly taken a liking to lately. Paired with the cork sole, it strikes a balance between understated and eye-catching at the same time — a contradiction that's become something of a signature move for Birkenstock in recent years.

This pair belongs to Birkenstock's premium 1774 line, a range that's long been tasked with pulling the brand's classics from "casual clog" territory toward something a bit more dressed up. Granted, the Boston Clog still isn't quite black-tie material, but compared to the standard version, it does carry an extra layer of refinement worth a closer look.

No pricing or release date has been provided at this time.
