Safety means different things to a surfer and a commuter rushing to catch the last train. For one it's about swells and rip currents; for the other, it's missed meetings and closing subway doors. Amsterdam Surf Association puts both kinds of "danger" onto the same garment with their FW26 collection, "SAFETY."
Rather than romanticizing beach imagery, the brand borrows directly from the visual language of construction sites and lifeguards — high-vis orange, army green, and pool blue run throughout the season, showing up on washed waffle-knit sweatshirts and distressed logo tees with a beaded texture. The result reads less like resort wear and more like a set of safety warnings.
The standout pieces in this collection are a batch of tees finished with a burn-out treatment: the surface cotton fibers are partially dissolved to reveal a second layer of fabric in a different color underneath, creating a worn-in, layered effect with a hint of destruction. Paired with shirts featuring waffle-textured cuffs, the depth in texture holds up better under scrutiny than any printed graphic. That same construction logic carries through to wax-combed knit details and breathable mesh paneling, echoing the anti-chafe and water-drainage designs common in surf gear — now translated into everyday pieces.
Outerwear is the focal point this season: a reversible flight jacket, a classic cotton trench, and a flannel shirt with multiple wearing configurations. The brand's signature Coach Jacket returns in a new "Green Check" colorway made from a newly developed wool-blend fabric. The best-selling Work Trousers are back too, this time paired with a matching Zip Up Shirt in the same fabric for a coordinated head-to-toe workwear look. Distressed, worn-in details are scattered subtly across the edges of each piece — understated, but unmistakably there.
