Art Skips the Museum, Sets Up Shop Along Bangkok's Canal Sidewalk Instead

Canal-side vendor stalls are nothing new to Bangkok locals, but stalls filled with canvases and live performances? That's a different story. L'On Bangkok's Bangkok Art Walk is setting up this year along both banks of Khlong Lod Wat Ratchabophit, stretching between Fueng Nakhon Road and Atsadang Road, from July 24 to 31, daily from 10am to 9pm. Free admission.

In short, it's basically a museum moved onto the sidewalk: live painting, live performances, craft stalls, and open-air exhibitions lined up along the waterfront, with food and drink stands scattered in between. No reservations, no tickets — just grab a comfy pair of shoes and a group of friends and you're set to wander the whole stretch.

The organizers' logic is straightforward: art shouldn't be locked away in stiff, formal institutions — it should flow like the water of Khlong Lod, right into the community, spread out on the street where people can stumble upon it. That's also why the event is currently recruiting artists, vendors, and musicians to join in — if you want to test the waters in front of a street audience (the pun works perfectly here), you can email l.onbangkokarthouse@gmail.com or reach out to the organizers directly on Instagram.

For anyone just looking to swing by, remember the location: along Khlong Lod Wat Ratchabophit, between Fueng Nakhon Road and Atsadang Road, running July 24-31, daily from 10:00am to 9:00pm. Admission is free.
