Blondshell's New Song "Fur Elise" Captures an Off-Key Wedding Moment

The wedding march isn't necessarily "Für Elise," but Blondshell borrowed the title anyway for a song about not knowing what you actually want. The new single "Fur Elise" closes out her third album *Violins*, and while the name points to that universally recognizable classical piano piece, the song itself is about feeling completely overwhelmed while standing at a wedding aisle.

"You're trying to figure out what your life is supposed to look like, trying to figure out what song to play at your wedding, but you don't even know where to start. You're picking the wrong song." That's how Blondshell, real name Sabrina Teitelbaum, describes the central image of the track. The song continues her signature loud-quiet structure, shifting between quiet moments and eruptions, working through the messy, hard-to-articulate emotions of growing up.

*Violins* arrives September 25 via Partisan Records, marking her third studio album following last year's *If You Asked For A Picture*. Ahead of "Fur Elise," she's already released the singles "Heart Has To Work So Hard" and the title track "Violins." The album centers on themes including broken friendships, religion, the body, and the process of trying to heal.

"There's a heaviness to this record," Teitelbaum says. "The lyrics are less direct, there's more imagery, but my main goal this time was writing songs that hit hard—I wanted really strong verses." She also spoke about her collaboration with producer Yves Rothman: "I spend more time with Yves than with almost anyone else—we work together really efficiently." On feeling more confident in her songwriting this time around, she said, "I don't feel like I'm fumbling around in the dark anymore."

Blondshell will soon head out on tour across North America, the UK, and Europe, with a December 15 show at London's Roundhouse marking her biggest solo headline performance in the city to date.
