A Quarter-Century Full Circle: The Chemical Brothers Head Back to Open'er's Main Stage

With a fresh round of lineup reveals, Open'er Festival 2027 confirms The Chemical Brothers as a main-stage headliner on July 1, 2027, marking precisely 25 years since their breakthrough victory at the festival's first-ever 2002 edition. Also joining the bill are Ellie Goulding and ADÉLA.

A Quarter-Century Full Circle: The Chemical Brothers Head Back to Open'er's Main Stage

25 years ago, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons took the main stage at the very first Open'er Festival and claimed the crown. On July 1, 2027, The Chemical Brothers will return to Gdynia, Poland in that same role, on that same stage — this time as headliners topping the bill at the Orange Main Stage. The date is no coincidence; it's a deliberate symmetry orchestrated by the organizers.

Open'er Festival 2027 is confirmed to run from June 30 to July 3 next year in Gdynia. Alongside The Chemical Brothers, the newly announced names include Ellie Goulding, ADÉLA, 5 Seconds Of Summer, and Underscores, joining previously confirmed acts Tame Impala, Sombr, The Neighbourhood, RAYE, and Patti Smith Quartet. General tickets are now on sale via Open'er's official website.

The Electronic Duo's Year: From New Albums to a Surprise Resurgence

The Chemical Brothers' most recent studio album, 2023's *For That Beautiful Feeling*, earned a four-star review from NME, which praised it as packed with "dancefloor bombs and psychedelic experimentation," noting that ten albums into their career, the duo remained "as strong as anyone in the game." They followed up with a UK and Ireland tour, extending to Japan, New Zealand, and Australia in early 2024, and delivered a full live set in March at London's Royal Albert Hall as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust concert series.

The duo have continued appearing together as DJs in recent years, including a 2025 appearance at San Francisco's Portola Festival. Rowlands, meanwhile, has been especially busy on his own: he formed a new project, TOMORA, with AURORA, releasing their debut album *Come Closer* earlier this year. The pair have since made their live debut and announced a 2026 UK and European tour; TOMORA has also just announced a new EP, *Celebration*, due out October 16. Meanwhile, The Chemical Brothers' 2015 single "Go" saw a 429% surge in streaming numbers and re-entered the UK Singles Chart Top 10 after being prominently featured in the Netflix film *Apex*.

Goulding, ADÉLA, and the Rest of the Lineup

Ellie Goulding will take the Orange Main Stage on July 3, following up on her sixth album *I Know Too Much*, released last month, which continues the more personal songwriting direction she established on 2023's *Higher Than Heaven*. Speaking about the album earlier this year, she said the process allowed her to "honestly piece everything together, like keeping a diary through music."

ADÉLA will perform on July 2, marking her Open'er debut following the release of her debut album *PRIMA*. NME gave the album four stars last month, calling the Slovak singer a "pink-haired pop upstart" and describing the record as "captivating" — a compelling debut from an artist with serious ambition.

5 Seconds Of Summer will headline the Main Stage on July 1, riding the momentum of their sixth album *EVERYONE'S A STAR!*. In an earlier NME interview, the band discussed embracing the "boy band" label with open arms and called the tour their most ambitious yet. Underscores will play the Alter Stage on July 3, following her latest album *U*, which received a five-star review from NME, described as "a hyperpop time capsule for an overstimulated, isolated generation."

The key details: Cece Natalie teamed up with director Hannah De Vries to craft a medieval-fable-style MV that ends with her own death; the single, co-produced with Aaron Shadrow, deliberately drops Autotune to preserve a deliberately "unpretty" tone.
