Netflix has confirmed that Danny Boyle's Rupert Murdoch biopic will get a limited theatrical release starting December 11, before streaming on Netflix in the US and Latin America beginning January 8.

The story is adapted from James Graham's Tony Award-winning play of the same name, centering on Rupert Murdoch (played by Guy Pearce) recruiting editor Larry Lamb (played by Jack O'Connell) to transform the British newspaper The Sun into a mass-market tabloid built on emotional provocation. Claire Foy joins the cast as Jules Davies. It's a story about media disruption that predates the digital age, yet it echoes uncannily with today's algorithm-driven content logic.

The production lineup includes StudioCanal, Media Res, and House Productions, with Boyle joined by producers Tracey Seaward, Tessa Ross, and Michael Ellenberg. Before hitting theaters and streaming, "Ink" will make its world premiere as the opening film of the 83rd Venice Film Festival on September 2, in competition, before moving on to screen at the Toronto Film Festival.
