Onstage, Chino Moreno kept the small talk to a minimum, letting cinematic visuals fill the massive screens and push the 50,000-capacity crowd on the lawn to emotional extremes. On Sunday, August 23, Deftones closed out Outbreak x All Points East at London's Victoria Park, marking the biggest UK headline show of the band's career—this East Stage main set arriving just months after their O2 Arena winter tour finale in February, bringing them back to London once again.

This also marked the final day of the first weekend of All Points East 2026, following headline sets from Lorde, Jorja Smith, and Tems on previous nights. Sunday's lineup was co-curated with hardcore label Outbreak festival, deliberately reflecting the diverse spectrum of Deftones' musical influences: from Interpol's gothic post-punk and IDLES' raw intensity, to JPEGMAFIA's genre-bending experimentation and AFI's emo edge, all packed into a single day's bill.

Beyond the Viral Hits, Deftones Bet Big on Deep Cuts

Over the past few years, "Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)," "Sextape," and "Cherry Waves" have each gone viral on TikTok, shining new light on the band's extensive back catalog and helping fuel interest in 2025's Private Music. Those tracks did draw the loudest reactions from the packed crowd, but the real weight of the night's setlist came from fan-favorite rarities like "Risk," the crushing "Milk Of The Madonna," and the manic energy of "Change (In The House Of Flies)"—proof of a band at its peak choosing to lean on career depth rather than crowd-pleasers to carry the headline set.

The encore closed with "Cherry Waves," "Lotion," and "7 Words," while the main set included "Around The Fur," "My Mind Is A Mountain," "Feiticeira," "Swerve City," "Mascara," "Rocket Skates," "Rosemary," "Tempest," "Locked Club," "Infinite Source," "Entombed," "Xerces," "Korea," and "My Own Summer (Shove It)"—19 songs in the main set plus 3 in the encore.

Spotted in the crowd were former Savages frontwoman turned solo artist Jehnny Beth, Foals drummer Jack Bevan, and actor-musician Paddy Considine—who got a White Pony tattoo during the band's last UK tour.

Speaking to NME last year about the band's unexpected viral hits, Moreno said: "Even if we did think that way—like, 'Oh, we should write a song everyone loves'—I think that would just be us fooling ourselves. We don't really have that formula." Asked about the secret to their success, he replied: "Honestly, I don't know. I'd like to think it's because we've written good songs that hold up over time, that cross generations."

Also on the Bill: Interpol, IDLES, and Amyl & The Sniffers

Earlier in the day, Interpol played a full set on the East Stage centered on their debut album Turn On The Bright Lights—a record Moreno himself has cited as a personal favorite—running through tracks like "Evil," "Rest My Chemistry," "The New," "Slow Hands," and "PDA," alongside two new songs, "See Out Loud" and "Wings On Fire," from their upcoming album This Mirror Weighs A Ton, due out August 28. Drummer Sam Fogarino, still recovering from spinal surgery, was replaced by The Walkmen's Matt Barrick. Right after their set, Interpol headed straight to Village Underground for a late-night album release show.

On the same stage, Amyl & The Sniffers frontwoman Amy Taylor used the break between songs to speak on women's safety and Palestine, openly calling out the encroachment of "right-wing stuff" into culture and politics. Over on the West Stage, IDLES opened with new track "Levitator," with frontman Joe Talbot leading the crowd in chants of "Free, free Palestine" before running through "Never Fight A Man With A Perm," "Mother," "Dancer," "Danny Nedelko," and "Mr Motivator"—marking IDLES' only scheduled London show of 2026.

Deftones' summer tour continues on to Ireland, Scotland, France, and Portugal, with year-end appearances lined up at Sick New World in Texas and their own Dia De Los Deftones festival. All Points East itself continues through this coming weekend, with Tyler, The Creator taking over headline duties for both days and Twenty One Pilots closing out Sunday.
