Manchester-Based Irish Singer Dove Ellis Presses Sold-Out Alexandra Palace Show to Vinyl-Only Release, All Proceeds to War Child

Skipping streaming entirely, Dove Ellis is releasing his sold-out London performance as a strictly limited double LP of 1,500 copies, with every cent of the vinyl sales benefiting War Child, the charity aiding children affected by conflict.

No Spotify, no Apple Music, just 1,500 double vinyl copies—Dove Ellis has chosen the least convenient format possible to release the live recording of his sold-out show at London's Alexandra Palace Theatre earlier this year. The performance, which earned a four-and-a-half-star review from NME praising his "mesmerizing voice," has now been made into an album titled *Live At Alexandra Palace Theatre*, set for release on November 13, with all proceeds going to War Child, the charity dedicated to helping children affected by conflict.

Dove Ellis is an Irish indie folk singer-songwriter now based in Manchester, who rose to prominence this year with his Mercury Prize-nominated debut album *Blizzard*. The thousand-strong crowd show was built largely around tracks from *Blizzard*, but Ellis also debuted five previously unreleased songs during the set—"The Royal Brown Hole," "Two Brothers Smoking," "It Barks," "Marooning," and "Nest Amongst Stars"—along with a cover of Gillian Welch's "April The 14th, Part 1." NME's review noted that even though the audience knew *Blizzard* inside out, Ellis's setlist was still full of surprises, at one point plunging the entire room into a silence that was "equal parts spellbound and bewildered."

Dove Ellis Skips Streaming for Live Album, Donates All Vinyl Sales to War Child

The live album features 15 tracks spread across four sides of vinyl: Side A opens with "The Royal Brown Hole," while Side D closes with "Nest Amongst Stars" and the Gillian Welch cover. The album is currently open forpre-order, available exclusively as a double vinyl set with no plans for a streaming release.

*Live At Alexandra Palace Theatre* marks War Child Records' first release under a single artist's name, following their charity compilation *Help(2)*. Rich Clarke, head of music at War Child UK, said: "Music is at the heart of everything War Child does, and this record proves what's possible when artists and fans come together to make a real-world impact." He added that 520 million children worldwide currently have their lives torn apart by war, spanning Sudan, Gaza, Ukraine, and Afghanistan. Ellis previously contributed to *Help(2)* as well, appearing on "Sunday Light" alongside Anna Calvi, Wolf Alice's Ellie Rowsell, and Nilüfer Yanya.

Ellis recently performed "Sunday Light" live alongside Wolf Alice, and has been confirmed for next month's lineup at Brighton's Mutations Festival, ahead of a UK and Ireland tour set for November.
