Third-Gen MAZDA CX-5 Launches in Taiwan, i-ACTIV AWD Goes from Optional to Standard Across the Lineup

Mazda Taiwan has rolled out the third-generation ALL-NEW MAZDA CX-5, starting at NT$949,000, with i-ACTIV AWD now standard across the entire lineup. The model also introduces a wood-joinery-inspired design language and up to 54 safety features.

Third-Gen MAZDA CX-5 Launches in Taiwan, i-ACTIV AWD Goes from Optional to Standard Across the Lineup

A technology once reserved for separating trim tiers has now been written straight into the entry-level spec sheet. Mazda Taiwan today unveiled the ALL-NEW MAZDA CX-5, with all 4 configurations of the brand-new third-generation model coming standard with i-ACTIV AWD intelligent all-wheel drive — no longer an item exclusive to top-tier trims. Pricing starts at NT$949,000, and the model is available now.

The launch event was jointly announced by Mazda Taiwan General Manager Liu Chien-liang alongside ALL-NEW MAZDA CX-5 Program Manager Koichiro Yamaguchi and Chief Designer Takanori Tsubaki, both flown in from Japan. The three standing together underscores that this update isn't just a refresh of the spec sheet — there's a clear design statement behind it too. The exterior carries forward the KODO soul-of-motion aesthetic under a new concept called "Wearable Gear," incorporating the visual language of traditional Japanese wood joinery (KIGUMI) into the connection points between the body and wheel arches, tightening the visual interplay between the rear and side lines.

Safety Numbers Built Into Steel and Sensors

Beyond i-ACTIV AWD, the lineup comes with up to 54 active and passive safety features depending on trim. Key structural areas now use ultra-high-strength steel rated up to 2,000MPa — no small investment for a crossover in this segment, and a spec Mazda Taiwan specifically highlighted this time around. The wheelbase has also grown to 2,815mm, expanding both rear-seat room and cargo volume, while the cabin continues its human-centric ergonomic design aimed at reducing the number of times drivers need to shift their gaze while on the road.

Purchase Incentives and Test Drive Gifts

Customers who place an order for the ALL-NEW MAZDA CX-5 between now and September 30 can upgrade to the "Total Peace of Mind" extended warranty for years 4 through 5 at a special price of NT$10,000, or opt for a low-interest financing deal worth NT$400,000 in savings. For owners looking for a more distinctive look, an optional SIGNATURE STYLE package is also available for NT$47,000, featuring black-and-silver detailing on the bumpers and trim for a sleek, sporty finish.

Test drives are available starting August 22 at MAZDA showrooms nationwide. Those who complete a test drive will receive a limited-edition "MAZDA Desert Brown MagSafe Leather Card Holder" as a gift.
