Square Enix Sets 2027–2028 Dates for Final Fantasy's 40th Anniversary Concert Tour

Square Enix Sets 2027–2028 Dates for Final Fantasy's 40th Anniversary Concert Tour

"Prelude" first rang out forty years ago—"Opening – Bombing Mission" first dropped players into Midgar thirty years ago—these two timestamps appear in Square Enix's promotional copy for the new tour, and they're really the whole pitch for the show. Since Final Fantasy first launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, the series has grown to 15 mainline entries plus countless spin-offs, and music is one of the few threads that ties these four decades together.

The confirmed tour, titled "Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy Eternal," will be conducted by Arnie Roth leading a symphony orchestra, choir, and soloists. The setlist draws from the series' core composers, including Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, Naoshi Mizuta, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Yoko Shimomura, and Masayoshi Soken, performed alongside HD visuals produced by Square Enix that trace the series' visual and technical evolution side by side. The official copy also calls out the different starting points of players' adventures—whether Cornelia, Eorzea, or Valisthea—inviting everyone to "continue the journey."

Tour Dates: Kicking Off in Tokyo, Wrapping (For Now) in Indianapolis

The tour launches at Tokyo International Forum Hall A on March 20 and 21, 2027, followed by Osaka's Grand Cube on March 27 and 28. From there, the schedule extends across North America, including Los Angeles' Shine Auditorium on April 3, Carnegie Hall in New York on June 25 and 26, London's Royal Albert Hall on September 25, and The Star Theatre in Singapore on October 23. The North American leg also covers Minneapolis, Denver, Atlanta, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Portland, Washington D.C., and Houston, with Seoul dates set for October 30 and 31, though the venue has yet to be announced. The last confirmed date so far lands at Indianapolis' Hilbert Circle Theatre on March 25, 2028.

Tickets for select dates go on sale October 6, with details for the remaining shows still to come. According to the official announcement, the "Distant Worlds" series has been touring since 2007, and this 40th anniversary edition builds on years of accumulated setlists and visual material rather than marking the start of an entirely new project.
