Fitbit Edge Name and Launch Date Confirmed by Google After Single Button Photo Leak

A close-up image of a side button captioned "10.12.26" appeared on Google's social media, which essentially verified the previously leaked Fitbit Edge name and launch date. Positioned between the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 5, this new device fills a gap in the lineup.

Fitbit Edge Name and Launch Date Confirmed by Google After Single Button Photo Leak

A close-up photo of a side button, paired with the line "Get an Edge on your health. 10.12.26" — that's all the clues Google has given this time, but it's enough to nail down months of leaks. The official Google Health account posted this simultaneously on Instagram and X, deliberately capitalizing "Edge" in the caption, which indirectly confirms the name of the new wearable. October 12 is the day Google is expected to reveal the details.

The device, called Fitbit Edge, is speculated to slot in between the screen-free Fitbit Air launched earlier this year and the higher-end Pixel Watch 5, filling a gap in the mid-range lineup. The earliest trace of this news dates back to August, when 9to5Google spotted an as-yet-unnamed fitness tracker in Google's Pixel 11 marketing materials. This week, Android Headlines shared real-life images of the Fitbit Edge, along with partial details on built-in apps and health-tracking features. French outlet Dealabs further confirmed the device's design and name, adding information on battery life and pricing.

According to Dealabs, the Fitbit Edge can last up to 7 days on a single charge with the always-on display turned off, dropping to 2 days with it enabled. The rumored European price is set at €179, roughly $200. Comparing this to the current Fitbit Air, priced at $99 in the US and €99 in Europe, the price gap suggests the Fitbit Edge could launch in the US at around $180.

The last time Google released a fitness band of similar size was the Fitbit Charge 6 back in 2023, meaning this product line has indeed gone without an update for a while. If the rumored specs hold true, the Fitbit Edge looks like a natural upgrade path following the Fitbit Air, and could also become another card for Google to play in pushing its Google Health Premium subscription. The answer won't be revealed until October 12.
