More Watches Than Guests: Hodinkee Happy Hour Moves to One Vanderbilt for the First Time

The real star of this happy hour wasn't the food or drinks—it was what everyone had on their wrist. From a vintage Omega to a Nike x Tudor collab, a casual Happy Hour turned into an impromptu industry wrist-tour.

More Watches Than Guests: Hodinkee Happy Hour Moves to One Vanderbilt for the First Time

On a Monday evening in August, Hodinkee took its recurring Happy Hour to the Vandy Club, marking the first time the series has been held at One Vanderbilt. Guests first gathered downstairs at the Watches of Switzerland One Vanderbilt boutique, where they were greeted by Hodinkee Deputy Editor Tim Jeffreys and the team, who also filmed a Wrist Check segment posted to Hodinkee's Instagram.

What really stole the show wasn't the food or the conversation—it was the watches on people's wrists. Tim Jeffreys was spotted examining a guest's 2002 Omega Seamaster Professional Chrono Diver; nearby, a 1980 Rolex Datejust 36mm with Tiffany dial text and a linen dial made an appearance—the kind of vintage piece that rewards a second, closer look.

Younger picks were also well represented. A Zenith Chronometer Open 1969 Boutique Édition, a 42mm titanium Tudor Pelagos FXD Marine Nationale MN21, and a Tudor Black Bay 58 Nike employee-exclusive on a custom strap, photographed alongside an Omega Speedmaster 50th Anniversary. A Mido Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer and two Doxas—the Watches of Switzerland x Doxa Army collaboration and the new Hodinkee x Doxa Sub Army 200T—also made it onto guests' wrists.

The heaviest hitter spotted that night was a platinum A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Triple Split, sitting quietly on one guest's wrist without much fanfare—yet it was the one piece in the night's photos that demanded a second glance.

Hodinkee's Head of Video David Aujero was also on hand, chatting with Chef Jayesh Kumar in one of the evening's rare watch-free moments. Details on the next event have yet to be announced.
