This clip dropped alongside Marvel Studios' new trailer for *Avengers: Doomsday* at D23. Two major events, the same bit played twice—Marvel still hasn't officially confirmed whether Deadpool or Wolverine will actually appear in *Doomsday*. But repeating this teaser routine over and over says something on its own: it feels less like clarification and more like a calculated silence. After hanging up his claws in *Logan*, Hugh Jackman was once asked under what circumstances he'd consider returning, and he half-jokingly mentioned an Avengers crossover. Now Marvel keeps bringing that offhand joke back into play.
