On August 8, Togashi Yoshihiro once again posted a photo of the same manuscript envelope on his personal X account, this time labeled "No. 424, manuscript complete," along with the note "Volume 38 touch-ups finished." For readers who've been closely tracking his update pace, that phrase carries real weight — "manuscript complete" has always been the status closest to a confirmed publication.
Hunter x Hunter resumed serialization on June 29 this year starting from Chapter 411, and as of August 3 has been published through Chapter 416. Based on the pattern of the past decade or so, this run would typically pause around Chapter 420, heading back into another hiatus that could easily stretch beyond a year and a half. But here's the question: if Chapter 421 doesn't stop and just keeps going, this "10 chapters then a break" pattern would truly be broken for the first time.
And right now, the answer already looks pretty clear. Even before August 3, Togashi had been sharing progress updates for Chapters 425, 426, 429, 430, and 431 — with the character line art for 429 through 431 already completed. By the time he confirmed the completed manuscript for Chapter 424 on August 8, Chapter 433 had already reached the "character rough draft complete" stage. In other words, judging purely by how much material he has stocked up, he's already sitting on well over 10 chapters' worth — possibly close to 20.
This surge of momentum didn't come out of nowhere. On December 17, 2024, not long after Chapter 410 wrapped up, Togashi revealed on X that he was reviewing and adjusting dialogue and timeline details for roughly 50 chapters' worth of planned content, and that once that adjustment work was done, he'd resume the line-art work on manuscripts that had been paused because of it — covering an estimated range of Chapters 410 to 460. Looking at things now, that "50-chapter plan" he announced back then seems to be gradually coming to fruition.
Whether the series actually keeps running all the way through Chapter 424 without a mid-run break still depends on how Weekly Shonen Jump's actual weekly publications play out going forward.
