What to know | Kali Malone's "Burning Song" Tour Confirmed: Starting From Leipzig's Bach Organ

The recording location Kali Malone chose for this album is itself a piece of history. Her fourth album, "Burning Song," was recorded at St. Thomas Church (Thomaskirche) in Leipzig, Germany — the final resting place of J.S. Bach, and the church where he served as choir director for 27 years until his death in 1750. Malone became the first contemporary musician to play the church's "Bach Organ," a modern instrument meticulously tuned to Baroque-era specifications, aligning precisely with the historical craftsmanship of Bach's own time.

"Burning Song" will be released on October 30, marking Malone's first proper solo album since 2024's "All Life Long." She describes her approach on this record as "more intuitive, more direct" in the press release. The album brings back past collaborators Lucy Railton and Stephen O'Malley. Prior to this, Malone released "Music For Intersecting Planes" with cellist-composer Leila Bordreuil this past March, and "Magnetism" with former Coil member Drew McDowall last November.

Malone trained as an organ tuner in her teens, and she's noted that this experience deeply shaped how she approaches intervals in her compositions. The single "My Eve My Dawn," released alongside the album announcement, dropped the same day as the tour news.
