
Both rage rap artists at heart, but where prettifun brightens up that first wave of sonic logic, Ken Carson keeps pushing toward darker territory—how deep the bassline can sink, how hard the 808s can hit, that's the question he's been testing over and over these past few years. At last week's xperiment tour stop at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, that contrast came through clearly in photographer Amaurys Linares Jr.'s lens.


The night opened with prettifun warming up the crowd, followed by The FADER cover star xaviersobased, who got a near hometown-hero welcome as a local artist. By the time Ken Carson took the stage, his presence was calm and professional, a deliberate contrast to the emotional buildup from the two openers before him.
