Most modern hypercars have long since erased the clutch pedal from the driving experience. Koenigsegg kept one anyway in the CCGT1, unveiled during Monterey Car Week—just enough for that first moment off the line.

Built on the CC850 chassis, this street-legal racer pays tribute to Koenigsegg's GT1 racing program, a project that stalled in the mid-2000s. That original prototype ran a lightweight chassis paired with a naturally aspirated V8, but never made it to competition after FIA rule changes killed the effort. Rather than recreate that car, the CCGT1 channels that unfinished performance lineage into a fully sold-out, 70-unit run.

Power comes from a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 1,280 horsepower on pump gas—or 1,600 horsepower when running on E85 biofuel. A dedicated roof-mounted intake and upgraded cooling system keep things in check during extended track sessions. What really turns heads, though, is the new Koenigsegg Sequential Shift system: a nine-speed Light Speed Transmission paired with a manual clutch pedal for launch, after which gear changes are handled through a racing-style shift lever mounted beside the steering wheel, using ignition-cut technology for clutchless shifts. Buyers who'd rather skip the clutch altogether can opt for the Engage Shift System instead, which swaps in a six-speed gated manual with an automatic mode.
