The Last Manual V-12: Lamborghini Murciélago SV Heading to No-Reserve Auction

This 2010 Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SV is the last of just five manual-transmission examples ever built in the entire model line, and it's heading to a no-reserve auction with RM Sotheby's, with bidding open August 24 to 26.

The Last Manual V-12: Lamborghini Murciélago SV Heading to No-Reserve Auction

Before Lamborghini handed gear-changing duties over to a computer, every car that rolled out of Sant'Agata Bolognese required a left foot on the clutch pedal. This 2010 Murciélago LP 670-4 SV, headed to the RM Sotheby's auction block, is recognized by the auction house as the brand's last V-12 model to come with a manual transmission—and it's also the final unit built among the five surviving manual SVs from that run.

The Murciélago SV debuted in 2009 as the most aggressive send-off for the Diablo's successor: an even more outrageous aero kit, reworked suspension, and a naturally aspirated V-12 producing 670 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque—the peak output this engine ever achieved in the Murciélago. Lamborghini originally planned to build 350 SVs, but only 268 actually rolled off the line, and just 5 of those came with the six-speed manual gearbox—the rest were all paired with the e-Gear automated manual that debuted in 2004. The e-Gear shifted via steering wheel paddles, eliminating the clutch pedal, and quickly became the brand's standard offering; by the time the Gallardo LP 560-2 50th Anniversario bowed out in 2013, Lamborghini had fully bid farewell to manual transmissions. Among the V-12 lineup, this SV is regarded as the closing chapter of that era.

This car's rarity goes beyond just the gearbox. It wears a custom Ad Personam finish in Marrone Eklipsis, with a two-tone Marrone Janus and Avorio Lilium leather interior, and it's fitted with a low-drag rear wing—a feature found on just three cars total. According to auction house records, the car has just 4,912 miles on the odometer.

RM Sotheby's is offering this SV at no reserve, so there's no published estimate; for reference, the auction house sold another e-Gear-equipped Murciélago SV for $3.14 million just earlier this month. This manual SV is the featured lot in RM Sotheby's latest online "Sealed" auction, with bidding opening Monday, August 24, and closing Wednesday, August 26.
