A sound that's never once hit a stage is about to headline one. Mick Gordon—the composer behind one of gaming's most instantly recognizable scores with the Doom reboot soundtrack—has confirmed he'll be on the road for the next two years. This isn't a one-off anniversary show; it's a full-blown touring campaign.
It all kicks off at RADAR Festival in Manchester, UK, running July 30 to August 1, 2027, with Gordon announced as the first headliner. Organizers are clear this isn't a DJ set or a tribute act: "This is the actual composer, performing the actual score—those riffs played at full volume, in a space built to hold every scream they tear out of you." The lineup includes Gordon's own custom-built Doom Machine, a full band, and a dedicated orchestral section. Organizers emphasized that Gordon has never performed this music live in this form before.
The ripple effect from RADAR's announcement was immediate. Next came an invite from Brutal Assault Festival in the Czech Republic, where Gordon will share the bill this August alongside Knocked Loose and Children Of Bodom.
The wave of interest has clearly outgrown a single show. In an interview with IGN, Gordon revealed that offers from European metal festivals started pouring in the moment RADAR made its announcement: "My agency and I are talking about extending this into something that runs over the next two years. There are a lot of venues around the world we want to bring this show to, and there's going to be a lot more to announce." In other words, Manchester and Brno are just the starting point—the full tour map is still taking shape.
The tour will cover music from both the 2016 Doom reboot and Doom Eternal. Describing the logic behind the ferocious, rhythm-driven style he brought to Doom, Gordon explained: "Doom is a very visceral, in-your-face, gut-punch kind of experience—it's primal. There's something instinctive about the drumming; I like drums that hit as hard as the Doom Marine does. When you're playing the game, flow is everything, and the music needs a solid groove to carry that flow, with percussion playing a key role in driving the action on screen."
Aside from the confirmed RADAR and Brutal Assault dates, the rest of the tour's cities and dates have yet to be announced.
