Misty Copeland Wears Michael Kors Denim Pencil Skirt on TV, Finishes the Look with Jimmy Choo Ixia Patent Pointed-Toe Pumps

Black patent leather, pointed toe, a draped heel shape—Misty Copeland's shoe choice was arguably more deliberate than the rest of her outfit. The ballet star appeared on "CBS Mornings" on Tuesday to talk about her retirement chapter and the latest installment of her YA novel series, "StarFire Academy," but it was the Jimmy Choos on her feet that really gave the look dimension.

Copeland wore a black boxy short-sleeve top tucked into a frayed-hem denim pencil skirt from Michael Kors Collection, cinched with a slim belt to define the waist for an overall clean, tailored look. On her feet were Jimmy Choo's Ixia pumps in black patent leather, featuring a square toe box with a pointed silhouette and a draped heel—the brand's modern take on the classic pump.

The Ixia is actually an evolution of another Jimmy Choo classic, the Love pump. Brand CEO Hannah Colman previously told WWD, "The Ixia is a modern iteration of the Love, with a teardrop-shaped heel that's very architectural, and it's becoming a classic in its own right. That heel shape makes the shoe more stable, and it's surprisingly comfortable to wear." She also noted that the brand's bestsellers haven't shifted much—the long-running Azia sandal, the classic Love pump, and now the Ixia, form the core of Jimmy Choo's footwear lineup in recent years.

This isn't the first time the shoe has appeared on a celebrity's feet. Bella Hadid wore the amber tortoiseshell TPU version in Cannes, paired with a ruffled top and wide-leg trousers; Michelle Obama wore the black patent version on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" with a powder-blue Herv L ger dress; and Teyana Taylor, also on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," chose the silver version paired with an olive-green Rabanne suit. By comparison, Copeland's styling this time leaned more everyday—a denim skirt and plain top let the patent pointed-toe pumps stand out as the sole statement piece.
