While most brands treat the manual transmission as a museum piece, Porsche is doing the opposite. The 2027 911 Carrera S's new MT Package brings back the six-speed manual—but only for North America.
This isn't a new model, but rather a path carved out for purists within the 992.2-generation Carrera S. Power comes from a 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine producing 473 horsepower, sent exclusively to the rear wheels. The shift knob is finished in walnut wood, offering a tactile detail your hand has to learn—something no screen can replace. The 0-60 numbers will certainly be slower than the PDK dual-clutch version, but buyers willing to pay extra for that shift lever were never chasing outright speed—they're after the engagement of that split-second gear change.
The chassis setup hasn't been shortchanged: PASM Sport suspension, rear-axle steering, and the Sport Chrono Package all come standard. On the outside, a re-tuned SportDesign front bumper, titanium exhaust tips, and—for the first time in Carrera S history—center-lock wheels round out the changes beyond the drivetrain. A crimson "S" badge on the rear pays homage to the tradition of owners slapping on their own red lettering decals—a detail that speaks to who this car is really talking to, more than any marketing copy ever could. Inside, four-way Sport Seats Plus come standard, and the car weighs in at 3,327 pounds; buyers looking to shed more weight can opt for ceramic composite brakes.
Pricing starts at $169,450 for the manual Coupe, while the Cabriolet version starts at $183,350—both commanding a premium over the standard PDK dual-clutch models. Deliveries in North America are expected before the end of this year.
