What to know | Razer Launches Budget Clio X Head Cushion Speaker, Cuts Price in Half by Shrinking the Drivers

The key details: Razer unveiled the Clio X at PAX West 2026, priced under $110—less than half the flagship model—with the tradeoff being a swap from a single 43mm driver to two 38mm drivers plus passive radiators, a clear compromise in exchange for a smaller footprint.

What to know | Razer Launches Budget Clio X Head Cushion Speaker, Cuts Price in Half by Shrinking the Drivers

Putting speakers inside a head cushion is already weird enough on its own, and now Razer is making it cheaper. The Clio X debuted at PAX West 2026 at $110, less than half the price of last year's flagship Clio ($230).

The Clio X is a headrest speaker accessory designed for gaming chairs, secured to the headrest with adjustable nylon webbing straps. Just plug in a 15W USB-C power source to use it—even a power bank will do. It's compatible with Razer's entire gaming chair lineup, and the installation method remains unchanged.

Cutting the price in half comes with a tradeoff in acoustic architecture. The flagship Clio uses a single 43mm full-range aluminum driver, while the Clio X switches to two 38mm speakers paired with two 55mm passive radiators—a smaller footprint that Razer claims still delivers immersive sound. Both models support THX Spatial Audio, which converts standard stereo into 360-degree surround sound, and both connect to PCs via Razer's proprietary HyperSpeed 2.4GHz wireless technology, originally designed as a low-latency solution for competitive gaming. If the headrest speaker's volume isn't enough, the Clio X can also be paired with an external soundbar.

There's an easy-to-overlook detail about power: Razer recommends using a PD2.0-spec power source, but the Clio X doesn't come with a power adapter included. According to the company, using a non-PD power source will limit power output, resulting in reduced maximum volume. As for battery life, that depends on the capacity of the external power bank used—Razer recommends at least a 10,000mAh model.

The Clio X is now available for purchase on Razer's official website and through retail channels.
