The Scorpion and the Frog at Taichung Art Museum: dates and NT$200 early birds
The exhibition opens November 20 with 66 YAGEO Foundation works. Compare reserved and non-reserved early-bird tickets, visiting hours and exhibition highlights.
The Scorpion and the Frog: Masterworks from the YAGEO Foundation Collection opens at Taichung Art Museum from November 20, 2026 to April 4, 2027. It brings together 66 works from the Renaissance to contemporary art, including 55 making their public debut in Taiwan. As of October 20, tickets are in presale and the exhibition has not opened.
Curated by Philip Larratt-Smith, the exhibition uses the pull of reason and instinct as viewing clues, and does not follow a single era or medium. For readers who want to start looking at art but don't know how to face the list of masters, this kind of comparison between works provides a more concrete entrance than reciting a life story.

66 works, looking at how they talk to each other
Through the juxtaposition of 20 groups of works, the exhibition allows different periods and cultural backgrounds to be related in the same space. For example, between Sanyu and Mark Rothko, we can start from the color blocks, body contours and blank spaces in the picture; we don’t have to judge which one is more “understandable” first, we can also find visual echoes and differences.
Works by artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Artemisia Gentileschi, David Hockney, and Picasso provide different perspectives on the body, family, relationships, and self. Before visiting, you can select two or three creators you are interested in, and then follow the comparison after entering the venue. There is no need to digest the entire list at once.

NT$200 early bird ticket, what is the difference between reservation and non-reservation?
Early bird non-reservation tickets can be used during the exhibition period and are only valid on the same day after activation. You must queue up through the general channel. Holiday reservation time tickets are based on the reservation date and enter the priority channel queue during the corresponding time period. The priority channel is still an admission mechanism and should not be understood as meaning that there is no need to wait at all.
Both early bird tickets cost NT$200, but the purchase channels are different. Non-reservation tickets can be purchased from the official website, the service desk on the first floor of Taichung Green Museumbrary and cooperative ticket sales channels. Tickets for holiday reservation periods are only available on the official website and service desk. Choosing your visit date and your need for queuing flexibility before paying is more important than just comparing ticket prices.
