Hsinchu’s Glass Art Festival runs through November 15 across two venues

The 2026 Hsinchu City Glass Art Festival "The Great Era of Glass" has started on October 17 and will be on display until November 15. The event forms two lines with the main exhibition area of 風 livehouse and the special exhibition area of the Glass Museum of Hsinchu City, allowing glass to return to the space between industrial memory, craftsmanship and contemporary art from the familiar cup plates, windows and screens.

Chief curator Wu Ting-an worked with teams including pon ding and OR; Huang Wei-ting coordinated the visual identity and 共序工事 shaped the exhibition space. The show invites visitors to look at materials, listen to soundscapes and connect the works with Hsinchu’s industrial history.

Key facts

  • Exhibition period: October 17 to November 15, 2026, closed on Mondays.
  • Location: 風 livehouse "The Great Era of Glass", Glass Museum of Hsinchu City "The Great Era of Hsinchu".
  • It is announced that the full ticket is NT$50, and the discount is NT$30; there are other conditions for free admission for those who meet the qualifications of citizens, age, etc.

From transparency between Taiwan and the world to the same material issue

The main exhibition area is opened with two corridors, "Taiwan's Transparency" and "World's Transparency". One side starts from glass factories, industrial voices and local memories, and the other side connects architecture, studio glass movements and technological applications. Metal corrugated boards and different space materials also give you different feelings when walking.

The exhibition raises questions through comparisons between works and commodities, materials and cultural values. Glass imitates the texture of jade and the design of everyday kettles, and can become a viewing entrance at the same time; it is no longer necessary to classify only by "crafts" or "arts", but can see the value of materials in different systems.

The huge furnace and the first sound of glass turn the manufacturing process into a soundscape

The 共序工事 takes the crucible for melting glass raw materials as a clue, and installs a huge kiln space with an enveloping feel. Zhuang Ruiming and Cai Junyu's "Glass First Sound" reorganizes the sounds of the sampling machine operation, raw material pouring and collision into the listening experience of the exhibition hall.

When looking at this type of installation, you can stop first to distinguish between continuous sound, percussion and spatial echo, and then go back to look at the material. This is not a live glass production demonstration. The transformation of the production process in the work is different from the real factory operation, and it is suitable to be understood through how sound guides the imagination.

Another line of the Glass Museum, returning to local creators

The special exhibition area "Hsinchu Great Era" extends from Wang Yichun's glass calligraphy, Lin Qican's "East Gate" and other works to the stories of creators from different generations. There are also works that use the texture of old patterned glass to make sounds, making materials that once appeared in daily buildings become audible records of time.

Announced: 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays, extended to 18:00 on holidays, and closed on Mondays. Ticket prices and free qualifications should be based on on-site and official regulations. Don’t think of preferential tickets as universal for everyone. If two exhibitions are arranged, it is better to reserve time for movement and stay, rather than treating the Glass Art Festival as a quick trip to a single exhibition room.
