Taipei Nuit Blanche 2026: a free Night Ka Shi art walk on October 31

Taipei Nuit Blanche 2026 will be held from 14:00 on October 31 to 02:00 on November 1, with the theme of "NIGHT KA SHI Night Ka Shi". Starting from the flowing and impromptu performance spirit of Nakashi, the art will unfold along Yuanshan, the Flower Expo Park and Qingguang Market. Participation in the event is free, but you still need to check the times of different works and performances separately.

This year, it will also connect the Taipei Digital Art Festival and the MAAGIC Yuanshan Public Art Project. The three echo each other in terms of location and content, but the exhibition periods are not exactly the same: Nuit Blanche is limited to one night, while some digital art and public art extend until November. When planning your itinerary, you should first clarify which content you want to see.

Key facts

  • Nuit Blanche: 14:00 on October 31st to 02:00 on November 1st, free to participate.
  • Main areas: Yuanshan, Flower Expo, Xinsheng Park, Minzu East Road and Qingguang surroundings.
  • The Digital Art Festival will be held from October 31st to November 15th, and not all content is limited to one night.

Starting from Yuanshan, you can feel the flow of Nakashi on foot

This year’s theme borrows the spirit of Nakashi musicians moving between streets, banquets and life scenes, turning the art of viewing into a city itinerary without a single entrance. You can choose Yuanshan as the meeting point first, and then extend to other blocks according to the performance time to avoid running back and forth just based on the map.

The works include Yao Zhonghan’s photoelectric sound, Zhang Tengyuan’s parrot-man installation, as well as creations by Yao Ruizhong, Lin Qiwei, Liao Jianzhong and others. When watching, you don’t have to just pursue “checking in everything”. You might as well choose a sound work, a live performance and a spatial intervention to experience how the night city changes the way you watch.

International performance and digital art have different participation rhythms

French choreographer Jann Gallois's "Block Party" brings mass participation into dance, while Stéphane Thidet responds to the EcoARK venue with his work. The installation can be stayed for viewing, while the live performance has a specific time period. The two require different schedule flexibility.

The theme of the Digital Art Festival is "Gray Automata", starting from the relationship between artificial intelligence, algorithms and humans and non-humans. The venue includes the 臺北典藏植物園 (the plant-collection pavilion) and partner stores. If you are more interested in interactive works, you may consider arranging another day outside the Nuit Blanche and carefully check the opening hours of each venue.

Public art prepared with nighttime traffic

MAAGIC Yuanshan uses the history of the US Army Advisory Group in Taiwan as a clue to re-examine neighborhood culture through public art. The works of Li Chengliang, Huang Guanjie, Liao Xiaozi and others provide different entrances. Its extended exhibition period is different from the one-night limited event. Those who want to take a closer look at the space during the day can also pay attention to the subsequent opening information.

To participate in the Nuit Blanche, it is recommended to wear suitable walking shoes, prepare rain gear and mobile power, and agree on the meeting point and return trip in advance. 2 a.m. is the end time of the event, which does not mean that the MRT will necessarily be extended to the same time; for the last bus, connections and traffic control, please check the official announcement of the day before departure.
