The Prodigy Marks 30 Years of 'Breathe' With a Fresh 12" Vinyl Pressing
Three decades after its release, The Prodigy's 'Breathe' returns on 12" vinyl this November 13 via XL Recordings, bundling the original mix, an instrumental cut, and two remixes for collectors.
"Breathe" gave The Prodigy their second UK number one single back in 1996, following hot on the heels of "Firestarter." Thirty years on, the track is making its way back to shelves in 12" vinyl form.
The band confirmed on Thursday, September 24 that this anniversary edition will land on Friday, November 13—timed just two days after the song's actual 30th anniversary on November 11. Released via XL Recordings, the vinyl features the original version, an instrumental version, and two remixes courtesy of The Glitch Mob and Mefjus & Camo & Krooked—the latter two long considered hard-to-find versions among fans.

"Breathe" was the second single from 1997's "The Fat Of The Land," an album that went on to top the charts in numerous countries worldwide and has sold over 10 million copies to date—it turns 30 next summer, with a 25th anniversary vinyl edition already released back in 2022. The Walter Stern-directed music video for "Breathe" also took home Viewer's Choice at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, along with Best International Viewer's Choice at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
This reissue arrives amid a flurry of recent activity for The Prodigy. The band recently locked in the first headliner slot for next year's Creamfields festival, marking their first appearance there in 14 years—their last performance was back in 2013. Earlier this year, they also delivered massive outdoor shows in Manchester, Edinburgh, Milton Keynes, and Dublin as part of their 2026 "Warrior's Dance" tour, alongside a run of European festival dates. Tomorrow (September 25), the band will return to New York for the first time in 17 years.
Speaking to NME late last year, Liam Howlett revealed the band is working on new music, saying "you'll hear new Prodigy music next year" and describing the sound as leaning into "a bit more evil rave." As of now, though, this new material has yet to officially surface.
