2027 Spring European Tour: The Wombats to Perform Debut Album in Full for Its 20th Anniversary

It's been 20 years since a debut album took three Liverpool lads from sleeping on a promoter's floor to playing the Glastonbury stage. The Wombats have announced an April 2027 tour that will see them perform their 2007 debut album "A Guide To Love, Loss & Desperation" in full, with ten shows spanning six European cities and four UK cities.

The tour kicks off on April 1 at Le Trianon in Paris, followed by stops at the Palladium in Cologne, Columbiahalle in Berlin, Zenith in Munich, Gashouder in Amsterdam, and Trix in Antwerp. The UK dates follow mid-month, starting with O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on April 10, O2 Academy Glasgow on the 13th, O2 Academy Brixton in London on the 16th, and wrapping up at Arts Club in Liverpool on the 18th.

Each show will be split into two parts: the first half-hour, led by frontman Matthew "Murph" Murphy, will see the band play the debut album front to back, while the second half will feature highlights and fan favorites from across their other albums. Drummer Dan Haggis said in a statement that the album captures the band's first four years, "driving around the UK in my grandma's car, sleeping on promoters' floors, all the way through to touring the world." He added that the record is packed with memories of the Royal Albert Hall, Japan, the US, Australia (where they actually saw a wombat), and Glastonbury, calling the tour a "Sonic Delorean" journey through time.

The album, which includes tracks like "Let's Dance to Joy Division," "Kill the Director," and "Moving to New York," sold over 400,000 copies in the UK and established The Wombats as one of the most talked-about British indie bands of the era. The band has since released "This Modern Glitch" (2011), "Glitterbug" (2015), "Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life" (2018), and "Fix Yourself, Not the World" (2022), with their latest album "Oh! The Ocean" released in February 2025, debuting at number four on the UK Official Albums Chart.

Support acts on the tour include The Snuts, Cherryholt, Abbie McCarthy, and Filip Clements. Tickets go on general sale at 9am UK time on Friday, October 16, with a presale starting Wednesday, October 14.
